How does Botox Work?
A purified form of botulinum toxin, Botox temporarily relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles. Botox injections block certain chemical signals from nerves, mostly signals that cause muscles to contract. The most common use of these injections is to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes. It’s administered by injection to targeted areas of the face. As with any other injection, you may feel a slight prick, but no other discomfort. You’ll experience some mild swelling and redness right afterward, but it will abate within a few hours. You will receive post care instructions after your treatment. It typically only takes 4-7 days before you’ll look noticeably younger.
